Chaos Theory

A branch of mathematics dealing with nonlinear dynamic systems that produce results which appear to be random but in fact arise from a deterministic process. A chaotic system has a fractal dimension, and it is highly dependent on initial conditions. Fractals are geometric structures that look similar when viewed at a wide range of magnifications; hence, an implication of small-scale patterns for large-scale phenomena and vice versa.
