Concave Payoff Function

Relative to a linear payoff pattern, a return function that has lower returns at the extreme values of the underlying asset and higher returns at values close to the average value of the underlying asset. Concavity is the result of reduced exposure to the performance of the underlying as the underlying increases, and increased exposure as the underlying decreases. The opposite of Convexity.
