Credit Risk Option

A kind of put option which pays off to the holder if the credit worthiness of a bond issuer falls below a strike level. The strike and payout may be set in terms of credit ratings, rate spreads or financial ratios. Consequently, the option's value is a function of changes in the interest rate structure, credit spreads, and changes in total firm value.
