A form of portfolio insurance using a dedicated bond portfolio as the reserve asset and common stocks or stock index futures as the risky asset. This technique is designed to maintain a minimum pension surplus (or a ceiling on underfunding) while providing equity exposure and a chance to increase the ratio of assets to liabilities.
