Expiration Cycle

One of three cycles which United States stock option exchanges used from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Beginning in 1985, the exchanges began to modify the traditional cycles to allow four rather than three expiration months to trade at once and to allow at least two near-term expiration months at all times. Other markets usually have relatively simple rules for listing new expiration months.
