Full Investment Note (FIN)

An equity-linked note which mirrors the performance of the stocks in a mutual fund portfolio and extends that performance to the fund's cash reserves. A FIN permits the fund to perform as if it were fully invested at all times in spite of the fact that the fund keeps an adequate reserve for possible shareholder redemptions. The FIN also helps reduce problems caused by the short-short rule. See also Short-Short Rule.
