Futures Contract on Individual Stock

A simple, single stock futures contract which is priced, valued and margined much like a stock index futures contract. These instruments have been introduced on Swedish and Australian issues and have been proposed for stocks in Britain and Hong Kong. The attraction of single stock futures contracts is based on their generally low margin requirements and the ability to avoid transfer and dividend withholding taxes. Not permitted in the United States.
