Global Hedge

A hedge covering the unwanted risks of a portfolio or an entire organization on an aggregate basis, taking advantage of any natural risk offsets and using broad spectrum hedging instruments. Global hedging is a low cost approach to risk management available to large financial intermediaries, non-financial enterprises and investors. A global hedge usually will not qualify for hedge accounting treatment. Also called Macro Hedge. Compare with Micro Hedge. See also Portfolio Approach to Risk Management.
