Junk Bond

A bond carrying a rating below Baa (Moody's) or BBB (S&P). Some speculative bonds are originally issued with below-investment-grade ratings and others, known as 'fallen angels,' decline from their initial investment-grade ratings. See Fallen Angel, Rising Star.
