Sunset Provision
|
A provision in a statute, regulation or contract that will terminate the statute, regulation or contract on a specific date. One of the best-known sunset provisions in finance is that which terminates the existence of the CFTC in the event that the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) is not renewed periodically by Congress.
