Variable Maturity Option

A put or call which matures substantially sooner than its nominal final expiration date if the underlying has moved significantly prior to an early maturity date stated in the contract. The early maturity may be effective if the underlying price moves by a set amount in either direction or only in the favorable direction. With rare exceptions, the premium on an early maturity option will be significantly less than the premium on a standard option.
