Withholding Tax

Of pertinence to global risk management transactions, most governments impose a withholding tax ranging from 15 percent to 30 percent on some interest payments and nearly all dividends paid on securities owned by foreign investors. Reciprocal withholding tax treaties usually reduce the withholding tax among the major industrial countries to 15 percent.
