Asset-Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP)

A technique for securitizing receivables and similar assets that might have served as collateral for a bank loan or been sold to a factor in an earlier generation. Now a bank earns a fee for monitoring the collateral and packaging the commercial paper program. See also Loan Participation.
